Class B vehicles should only be driven with the attendants registered in your driving license.
Several companions can be entered (not just the parents). The companions must be at least 30 years old, have at least five years of driving license class B (car) and must have a maximum of 1 point in the central traffic register in Flensburg. From a blood alcohol concentration of 0.5 per mil no more may be accompanied. Furthermore, you may drive motor vehicles (except motorcycles) with a permissible total weight of no more than 3.5 t and eight seats, apart from the driver's seat. Trailers may be carried on vehicles with a permissible total weight of 3.5 t if the permissible total mass of the trailer does not exceed 750 kg. If the trailer has a gross vehicle weight of more than 750 kg, the gross vehicle weight of the combination must not exceed 3.5 t.
For other combinations, authorization B96 or class BE can be acquired. The accompanied driving will not be overridden.
For your 18th birthday, you will receive the regular driver's license (card driver's license) from your responsible road traffic office.
Classes AM and L are included in this license class. No accompaniment is required for this.
Class AM vehicles (may be driven without an accompanying person):
Two-wheel mopeds
with a spark ignition engine with a maximum displacement of 50 cm³, a design-related maximum speed of maximum 45 km/h or an electric motor with a maximum continuous rated output of 4 kW.
Three-wheel mopeds
with a spark ignition engine with a maximum displacement of 50 cm³ and a maximum construction speed of 45 km/h or an electric motor with a maximum rated output of 4 kW.
Four-wheel light vehicles
with a spark ignition engine with a maximum displacement of 50 cm³, a design-related maximum speed of maximum 45 km/h or an electric motor with a maximum continuous rated output of 4 kW and an empty weight of maximum 350 kg.
Class AM also entitles you to:
Small motorcycles
with a maximum design speed of 50 km/h, provided they first entered traffic before January 1, 2002.
Small motorcycles
according to former GDR law with a displacement of 50 cm³ and a maximum design speed of 60 km/h if they were put into operation for the first time before January 1st, 1991. Proof of insurance is required from the GDR.
